I mentioned Dicrostonyx – the collared lemmings or varying lemmings, the several species of which occur across the far north of Scandinavia, Asia and North America.

I say this based on the presence in Pleistocene Alaska of Predicrostonyx hopkinsi, sometimes called Hopkins’s lemming and supposed to be ancestral to Dicrostonyx.
