Sheen also addressed portions of the interview that quoted him as calling the people who voted for Brexit “hard right populists” and “demagogic, fascistic” politics.

He continued: “I certainly did NOT equate people who voted for Brexit or Trump with a fascistic ‘hard right’ that must be stopped.

“And, of course, we really, really tried to get away from the novel, because we felt that the novel was fascistic and militaristic.”
