The 37-square-mile islet has become a refuge for many native species in Tasmania, including eastern gray kangaroos, Bennett’s wallabies, and the long-nosed potoroo.

Their kangaroo cousins, including larger kangaroos and rat kangaroos such as potoroos and bettongs, continued to the present.
