delphinidin Chem.|dɛlˈfɪnɪdɪn| [a. G. delphinidin (R. Willstätter 1914, in Sitzungsber. preuss. Akad. d. Wissenschaften 405), f. delphinium + -idin.] An anthocyanidin which is usu. isolated as the chloride, C15H11O7Cl, and which combined as glycosides forms many plant pigments.
