ranciéite Min.|rænsiːˈeɪaɪt| Also rancieite, † rancierite. [ad. F. rancierite (A. Leymerie Cours de la Minéralogie (1857) ii. 329), f. Rancié (formerly also Rancier), name of the mountain near Vicdessos, Ariège, France, where it was first found: see -ite1.] A hydrated oxide of calcium and manganese, (Ca,Mnii)Mniv4O9·3H2O, occurring as soft flakes and as compact or friable masses.
