stomium Bot.|ˈstəʊmɪəm| [mod.L., coined in Ger. (K. Goebel 1901, in Organogr. d. Pflanzen 11. 753), f. Gr. στόµιον (see prec.).] In ferns, a part of the wall of the sporangium which ruptures to release the spores.
