deplumation|diːpl(j)uːˈmeɪʃən| [a. F. déplumation (Cotgr. 1611), n. of action from déplumer to deplume.] The action of depluming, or condition of being deplumed: loss of feathers, plumes, or fig. of honours, etc. (In quot. 1834 humorously for ‘plucking’ in examination.)
