† devoto, n. Obs.|diːˈvəʊtəʊ| Pl. -oes, -o's, -os; also (as in It.) -i. [a. It. or Sp. devoto, devoted, devout:—L. dēvōtus; cogn. with OF. devot, F. dévot, and thus with devout and devote a. and n. The corresp. feminine is devota.] A person zealously devoted to religion or religious observances, or to the service of a cause, person, etc.; a devotee.
