streptozotocin Pharm.|strɛptəʊˈzɒtəsɪn| [f. as prec. + -zoto-, of unkn. origin + -mycin.] An antibiotic substance obtained from Streptomyces achromogenes that damages insulin-producing cells and is used to induce diabetes in laboratory animals.
