ferrocene Chem.|ˈfɛrəʊsiːn| [f. ferro- + cyclopentadiene.] An orange crystalline compound, Fe(C5H5)2, a molecule of which consists of an iron atom symmetrically situated between two parallel, superimposed hydrocarbon rings of aromatic character.
