[a. F. dialoge (13th c. in Hatz.-Darm.), mod.F. dialogue, ad. L. dialogus, Gr. διάλογος conversation, dialogue, f. διαλέγεσθαι to speak alternately, converse: see dialect.]
1. a. A conversation carried on between two or more persons; a colloquy, talk together.
(The tendency is to confine it to two persons, perhaps through associating dia- with di-: cf. monologue.)
