1895Jrnl. Chem. Soc. LXVIII. i. 496 Attempts to prepare dihydroxyacetone by the action of nitrous acid on diamidoacetone hydrochloride were not very successful. 1951I. L. Finar Org. Chem. xviii. 358 Dihydroxyacetone..is not optically active, and hence, by the definition given above, is not a sugar. If..the proviso that a sugar is always optically active is rejected, then dihydroxyacetone will be a ketotriose. 1967[see glycerose]. 1969Ottaway & Irvine tr. Netter's Theor. Biochem. xiii. 715 In the mitochondria a very active oxidation of glycerol phosphate takes place. The dihydroxyacetone phosphate which is formed diffuses into the cytoplasm,..and so acts as a transporter of hydrogen to the respiratory chain. |
