[Gr. ὀµµατ-, ὄµµα eye, -ϕόρ-ος bearing] belonging to the suborder Stylommatophora of pulmonate gastropods (land-snails and slugs), which have eyes borne on the tips of a pair of retractile tentacles. stylophaˈryngeal, a. belonging to the styloid process and the pharynx; n. = stylopharyngeus (in recent Dicts.). ‖ stylophaˈryngeus, a muscle arising from the styloid process and separating the superior and middle constrictions of the pharynx. ‖ styloˈstemon [Gr. στήµων: see stamen] (see quot.).
