dream team, n. orig. U.S. Brit. |ˈdriːm tiːm|, U.S. |ˈdrim ˌtim| [‹ dream n.2 + team n., as a rhyming pair.] 1. Sport (orig. U.S.). A (potentially) highly successful team; a team of excellent players, (originally) esp. an all-star team comprised of the best available players in a particular league, division, etc. Popularized internationally as the name given to the U.S. basketball team which won the gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.
