▪ I. duple, a. (n.)|ˈdjuːp(ə)l| [ad. L. duplus double, f. duo two + -plus, from root ple- to fill.] A. adj. Double, twofold. Obs. in gen. sense: in Math. applied to the proportion of two quantities one of which is double of the other; in Music, to ‘time’ or rhythm having two beats in the bar.
