synaptase Chem.|sɪˈnæpteɪs, -eɪz| [ad. F. synaptase (Robiquet, 1838), f. Gr. συναπτός joined together, continuous, with ending as in diastase.] An albuminous ferment found in almonds and other oily seeds; also called emulsin.
