‖ emprosthotonos Path.|ɛmprɒsˈθɒtənɒs| [mod.L., a. Gr. ἐµπροσθότονος drawn forward and stiffened, f. ἔµπροσθεν before + τόνος a stretching.] ‘A condition in tetanus in which the body is drawn forwards by excessive action of the anterior muscles of the trunk’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.).
