‖ rayah Now Hist..|ˈraɪə| Also raiah, raya. [a. Arab. raﻋīyah flock or herd, subjects, peasants, f. raﻋā to pasture or feed. Cf. next.] A non-Muslim subject of the Sultan of Turkey, subject to payment of the poll-tax (see kharaj).
