[f. L. a(d)stipulāt- ppl. stem of a(d)stipulā-ri to join in a bargain, f. ad to, in addition + stipulā-ri to bargain.]
To act as second stipulant or receiving party to a bargain, attaining thereby an equal claim with the principal stipulant.
