A genus of herbaceous (mostly climbing) plants, N.O. Acanthaceæ, natives of tropical and sub-tropical parts of Africa and Asia, of which many species are cultivated in greenhouses for the beauty of their various-coloured flowers. Also, a plant of this genus.
