▪ I. thung, n. ? dial.|θʌŋ| [Echoic: cf. thunge; also Lancash. dial. ‘thwang, a great blow’ (Tim Bobbin 1746).] A dull heavy sound, as of a blow with the fist, but with some resonance. So thung v., intr. to make such a sound.
