ˈfarm-ˌhouse [f. farm n.2 + house.] a. The chief dwelling house attached to a farm. ‘In this word and farm-yard the Dicts. mark the principal stress on the first syllable; but in England this pronunciation is unusual, exc. when the word is attrib.’ (N.E.D., 1895).
