fashionista, n. colloq. (orig. N. Amer.). Sometimes depreciative. Brit. |ˌfaʃəˈnɪstə|, U.S. |ˌfæʃəˈnistə| Plural unchanged, -s [‹ fashion n. + Spanish -ista -ist suffix, apparently after earlier borrowings from Spanish, as , Sandinista n., Senderista n., etc.] A person employed in the creation or promotion of high fashion, as a designer, photographer, model, fashion writer, etc. Also: a devotee of the fashion industry; a wearer of high-fashion clothing.
