A. adj. Descended from Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad by his first wife, Khadija.
B. n. A descendant of Fatima and her husband, Ali; a member of the Arabian dynasty which ruled in parts of northern Africa from a.d. 908 to 1171, and during some of that period in Egypt and Syria. Also attrib.
