tilasite Min.|ˈtiːləsaɪt| [ad. Sw. tilasit (H. Sjögren 1895, in Geol. Föreningens i Stockholm Förhandlingar XVII. 291), f. the name of D. Tilas (1712–72), Swedish mining engineer: see -ite1.] A fluor-arsenate of calcium and magnesium, CaMg(AsO4)F, that is isostructural with sphene and occurs as translucent monoclinic crystals that are colourless, green, or greyish.
