‖ tou ts'ai Ceramics.|tu tsaɪ| Also doucai. [Chinese (Wade-Giles), duōcái (Pinyin), lit. ‘multi-coloured’, f. tou many + ts‘ai colours.] Used attrib. and absol. of a kind of enamel painting on Chinese porcelain, developed in the reign of Ch'êng Hua (1465–87), and of (pieces of) porcelain so decorated.
