fore-sail|ˈfɔəseɪl| [f. fore- prefix + sail; = Ger. vorsegel.] The principal sail set on the foremast; in square-rigged vessels, the lowest square sail on the foremast; in fore-and-aft rigged, the triangular sail before the mast.
