galax Bot.|ˈgælæks| [mod.L. (Linnæus Species Plantarum (1753) I. 200); cf. Gr. γαλαξίας galaxy.] An evergreen plant of the genus so called of the family Diapensiaceæ, native to the south-eastern United States, and having white flowers and shiny leaves.
