‖ garde-bras|gardəbra| Also 5 (in anglicized forms) gardbrace, garbrasse, 7 gardebrace, 9 erron. garde-de-bras. [F. garde-bras, f. garde-r to guard + bras arm.] ‘An additional piece of armour placed on the upper part of the gauntlet, or fastened to the elbow-plates’ (Fairholt).
