gazania Bot.|gəˈzeɪnɪə| [mod.L. Gazania (G. Gaertner De Fructibus Plantarum (1791) II. 451), f. the name of Theodorus Gaza (1398–1478), a Greek scholar.] A plant of the genus of South African herbs so named, belonging to the family Compositæ and having showy yellow or orange flowers.
