† aˈgrote, v. Obs. 4–5. Only in pa. pple. agroted, -yed, -eied. [Origin obscure; perhaps f. a- prefix 1 + grot a particle, or Norse grautr porridge. (Cf. also grout, to fill interstices with mortar.)] To cram, surfeit, cloy.
