▪ I. tusche orig. U.S.|ˈtʊʃə| Also tushe. [Ger., back-formation from tuschen, f. F. toucher to touch.] A greasy black liquid composition used in lithography and other printing techniques; lithographic drawing ink. Also attrib.
1885Lithographer & Printer 24 Jan. 114/1 By the term autography we designate..everything that is written with lithographic tushe on transfer paper in order to enable it to be transferred to the lithographic stone. We use the word ‘tushe’, for though specially coined, it has been adopted by the entire craft of lithographers in this country. 1912W. C. Brown Practical Textbk.
