gillenia Bot.|dʒɪˈliːnɪə, gɪˈliːnɪə| [mod.L. (C. Moench Methodas Plantas Suppl. (1802) 286), f. the name of Dr. Arnold Gille, or Gillenius, a seventeenth-century German botanist.] A member of a small genus of herbaceous plants belonging to the family Rosaceæ; also the root of these plants, used as an emetic.
