Gioconda|dʒ(ɪ)əˈkɒndə| [It., fem. of giocondo (see jocund a.).] The name of a painting (in full La Gioconda; also known as the Mona Lisa) by Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519), used allusively attrib. to describe an enigmatic smile resembling that of the woman in this painting.
