A mineral of the spinel group, Fe2TiO4, frequently found as lamellæ in magnetite.
1947Mineral. Abstr. X. 6 X-ray examination shows two spinel phases with cell edges 8·40 and 8·47Å., close to the values for magnetite (8·37) and ferrous orthotitanate Fe2TiO4 or titanspinel (8·50). It is assumed that the ore contains a large amount (100,000 tons) of the latter which is named Ulvöspinel. 1963D. W. & E. E. Humphries tr. Termier's Erosion & Sedimentation i. 6 The Curie point is 575°C. for pure magnetite and 675°C. for hematite; it alters in the solid solutions of magnetite (Fe3O4) and ulvo-spinel. 1970Sci. Jrnl.
