Red River Canad. The name of a river flowing from North Dakota, U.S.A., to Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, used attrib. in Red River cart Hist. (see quot. 1875); Red River fever, typhoid fever; Red River frame Hist., used in a particular style of architecture (see quot. 1921); Red River jig, a fast, intricate jig.
