† herbelade Cookery. Obs. Also hebolace, (h)erbeblade, hayrblad. [cf. It. herbolata ‘a kinde of tarte made of yoong herbes: greene sauce’ (Florio) = OF. herbolee ‘medicine prepared with herbes’ (Godef.). Cf. also med.L. herbolasta ‘panificium herbis fartum & conditum’ (Du Cange).] A kind of pork-sausage mixed with herbs and baked in a crust.
