hermeˈneutics [f. hermeneutic a.: see -ics. Also in form hermeneutic. Cf. Gr. ἑρµηνευτική (sc. τέχνη), L. hermēneutica, F. l'herméneutique.] The art or science of interpretation, esp. of Scripture. Commonly distinguished from exegesis or practical exposition.
