hydrogenolysis Chem.|ˌhaɪdrədʒəˈnɒlɪsɪs| [f. hydrogen + -o + lysis, after hydrolysis.] The splitting of a bond accompanied by the addition of an atom of hydrogen to the atoms originally bonded (one or both of these being carbon atoms).
