hypsarrhythmia, n. Path.|hɪpsəˈrɪθmɪə| [f. hypso- + arrhythmia n.] Severely abnormal brain activity characterized by recurrent irregular spikes and slow waves in the electroencephalogram, which is usually associated with epileptic (so-called ‘salaam’ or ‘infantile’) spasms in infants.
