Vesak|ˈvɛsaːk| Also Wesak; Vai-, Ve-, Visākha. [a. Skr. vaiṡākhá, name of a month, f. vi-sākhā branched, (also) the name of a constellation, f. ví apart + ṡākhā branch.] An important Buddhist festival commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha, observed on the day of the full moon in the month Visākha (April–May).
