The first element vi- is perhaps influenced by English words such as virile adj., virility n., etc., or their etymon classical Latin vir (see note s.v. man n.1). According to the makers of the drug, the last two syllables (and first vowel) were not suggested by Niagara n., as sometimes proposed.
