† inˈditch, v. Obs. Also 6 endich, 7 indich. [f. in-1 or in-2 + ditch n.] 1. trans. To cast into or bury in (or as in) a ditch.
1597Bp. Hall Sat. iii. ii, Wert thou inditched in great secrecie; Where as no passenger might curse thy dust, Nor dogs sepulchrall sate their gnawing lust. 1630J. Taylor (Water P.) Wks. i. 64/2 One was cast dead into the Thames..drawne with a Boat and a rope downe some part of the Riuer, and dragged to shore and indiched. 2. To enclose or surround with a ditch; to entrench.
