† ˈambubey Obs. [ad. L. ambubēia (of unkn. origin), a herb mentioned by Celsus and Pliny. Florio 1611 has ‘Ambubeia, a kind of wild Endiue or common Cycorie. Also the Dandelion, the Priests-crowne, the Monks-head, or Dogs-teeth.’] Wild Succory or Endive (Cichorium Intybus).
