aminonaphthol, n. Chem. Brit. |əˌmiːnəʊˈnafθɒl|, |əˌmʌɪnəʊˈnafθɒl|, U.S. |əˌminoʊˈnæpˌθɔl|[see also naphthol n.] [‹ amino- comb. form + naphthol n.] Any of a number of isomeric crystalline compounds that are amino derivatives of α- or β-naphthol and have the formula C10H6(OH)NH2, some of which are used in the manufacture of azo dyes. Also: a substituted derivative of any of these compounds.
