kabeljou S. Afr. (ˈkɑːbəljaʊ, ˈkɒbəljaʊ, ‖ ˈkabəljou) Also cabaljao, cabeliau, kabbeljou, kabeljaauw, -jauw, -jouw, kobeljauw, -jouw and, abbreviated, kob2. [Afrikaans, = Du. kabeljauw (see cabilliau).] A large marine food fish, Johnius hololepidotus, of the family Sciænidæ.
