‖ katchung|ˈkætʃʌŋ| Also katjang. [f. Malay and Javanese katjang ‘bean’, applied to species of Lablab, Dolichos, Phaseolus, Arachis, etc.; katjang-mienjak, -soeoek, -tana, are names, in different islands, of Arachis hypogæa.] The ground-nut, Arachis hypogæa (family Leguminosæ). Hence katchung-oil, expressed from the seeds of this, used in warm climates as a substitute for olive oil.
