Angophora, n.|æŋˈgɒfərə| [mod.L. (coined in A. J. Cavanilles Icones et Descriptiones Plantarum (1797) IV. 21), f. Gr. ἄγγος jar + -ϕόρος bearing, referring to the vase-like fruits of some species.] A genus of evergreen trees and shrubs of the myrtle family, native to eastern Australia; (also angophora, angophera) a tree or shrub of this genus.
