loonie, n. Canad. colloq.|ˈluːniː| Also looney, loony. [f. loon n.2 + -ie, from the representation of a loon (or diver) on the reverse.] The Canadian one-dollar coin introduced in 1987; also, transf., the Canadian dollar.
