zouk, n.|zuːk| [a. Antillean Fr. creole zouk, lit. ‘party’ (cf. juke n.).] A style of popular music, originating in the French Antilles, combining Caribbean and Western elements, and characterized by a strong fast beat derived from traditional Antillean drumming.
